Hi,
sum of two integers is thirty-one
Let x and (31-x) represent the smaller and larger integer respectively
Question States***Write as we Read
6x = 5(31-x) + 10
Solving for x
6x = 155 - 5x + 10
11x = 165
x = 15, the smaller integer. The larger is 16. (31-15)
CHECKING our Answer***
90 = 80 + 10
