You can put this solution on YOUR website! Two trains from the points A and B moving in opposite direction ,
at the point they meet the second train travels 120 kms more than the first.
The speeds are 50kmph and 60kmph respectively find the distance between A and B?
:
Let d = dist traveled by train A
then
(d+120) = dist traveled by train B
:
The travels times of both trains is the same, write a time equation; time = dist/speed
:
Train A's time = Train B's time =
Cross multiply
60d = 50(d+120)
60d = 50d + 6000
60d - 50d = 6000
10d = 6000
d = 600 mi traveled by train A
then
600 + 120 = 720 mi traveled by train B
and
Total dist: 600 + 720 = 1320 mi
