You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The denominator of a fraction exceeds twice the numerator by 10.
The value of the fraction is 5/12. Find the fraction.
:
Let x = the numerator
then
(2x+10) = the denominator
therefore:
x%2F%28%282x%2B10%29%29 = 5%2F12
Cross multiply
12x = 5(2x+10)
12x = 10x + 50
12x - 10x = 50
2x = 50
x = 25; the numerator
:
2(25) + 10 = 60 is the denominator
:
25%2F60 reduces to 5%2F12
