You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Hello!
Let's call X to the original speed in mph. We know that the plane flew for a total of 6 hours at a speed of X and a total of 2 hours at a speed of X + 10. Therefore, the total distance is traveled was:
6X+%2B+2%28X%2B10%29
Since we're told that total distance was 1,532 miles, we get:
6X+%2B+2%28X%2B10%29+=+1532
8X+%2B+20+=+1532
8X+=+1512
X+=+189
SO the original speed was 189 mph, and after the speed was increased it went to 199 mph.

I hope this helps!
