You can put this solution on YOUR website!

Pick a value for . It can be anything you like, but in general small integers make the arithmetic easier.

Replace in the equation with the value you picked. Then do the indicated arithmetic.

Create an ordered pair where the first number in the pair is the number you picked and the second number is the result of doing the arithmetic.

Plot the point. Start at the origin and move right (if the first number of the ordered pair is positive) or left (if the first number of the ordered pair is negative) the number of units represented by the first number of the ordered pair. Then move up (+) or down (-) the number of units indicated by the second number of the ordered pair.

Repeat all of the above steps using a different number to replace .

Once you have two points plotted, draw a straight line through them. Done.

Let's choose 2 as our first value. Then with the equation:

We replace with the number 2:

Do the arithmetic:

Create the ordered pair. When , , so the ordered pair is:

Plot the point. Starting at the origin, go two units to the right and 6 units up.

I'll let you take it from here.
