You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Previously I stated the equation was

%285x%2B%283%2F2%29x%2Bx%2B9%2B%28-x%29%29%2F4=-1

so let's solve for x.

%285x%2B%283%2F2%29x%2Bx%2B9%2B%28-x%29%29%2F4=-1 Start with the given equation.

5x%2B%283%2F2%29x%2Bx%2B9%2B%28-x%29=-1%2A4 Multiply both sides by 4.

5x%2B%283%2F2%29x%2Bx%2B9%2B%28-x%29=-4 Multiply

5x%2B%283%2F2%29x%2Bx%2B9-x=-4 Rewrite 9%2B%28-x%29 as 9-x

2%285x%29%2Bcross%282%29%283%2Fcross%282%29%29x%2B2x%2B2%2A9-2x=2%28-4%29 Multiply EVERY term by the LCD 2 to clear out the fraction.

10x%2B3x%2B2x%2B18-2x=-8 Multiply and simplify.

13x%2B18=-8 Combine like terms on the left side.

13x=-8-18 Subtract 18 from both sides.

13x=-26 Combine like terms on the right side.

x=%28-26%29%2F%2813%29 Divide both sides by 13 to isolate x.

x=-2 Reduce.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Answer:

So the solution is x=-2

So the answer is choice D)
