You can put this solution on YOUR website!

Hi,
the vertex form of a parabola, y=a%28x-h%29%5E2+%2Bk where(h,k) is the vertex
vertex (-2,-8)
y =a(x+2)^2 -8
using y-intercept pt(0,4) to find a
4 = a(-2)^2 -8
12 = 4a
3 = a
y = 3(x+2)^2 -8
finding x-intercepts when y = 0
0 = 3(x^2 + 4x + 4) -8
0 = 3x^2 + 12x + 4

x+=+%28-12+%2B-+sqrt%28+96+%29%29%2F%286%29+
Present these x values as is traditional for your classroom
