Question 389554: I'm to identify if the following 8 numbers are Rational, Irrational, Integers or Whole Numbers (some belong to more than one subset. Have I done this correctly?
-1.3 - Rational
4/5 - Rational
sqrt 8 - Irrational
sqrt 9 - Rational, Integer, Whole Number
2 3/4 - Rational
-.666 - Rational
sqrt -0.25 - Rational
17/4 - Rational
Sorry I don't know how to make the square root sign.
Thanks for all your help,
Suzie Dotson

You can put this solution on YOUR website! sqrt -0.25 - Rational
-----------
If it's then it's complex, not rational.
If you meant +0.25, it's rational.
----------
PS Integer and Whole Number are the same thing.
----------
OK, Whole Numbers are non-negative integers.

You can put this solution on YOUR website! Everything is correct, except , which is a complex number.
Also Alan, the set of whole numbers and the set of integers are not the same set. Integers are the set {...-2, -1, 0, 1, 2, ...} while whole numbers comprise of all nonnegative integers, or {0, 1, 2, ...}.
