Note:  Using the illustration for reference, a median 'EF' would 

connect the midpoints of the legs AD and BC AND:

 median EF = 14 = (AB + CD)/2  (the average length of the bases)

 14 = [(x-6) + (3x + 2)]/2

 28 = 4x - 4

 32 = 4x

  8 = x

Length of CD (3x + 2) = 26
