I know that the sides of an isosceles triangle are equal.
so, 2x+%2B+4+=+x+%2B+8
Subtract x from both sides
x+%2B+4+=+8
x+=+4
And, since the base is 5x+-+2,
base = 5%2A4+-+2
base = 18
