Write a time equation, Time = dist/speed
:
Return time - go time = 2 hrs

Least common multiple is 168, multiply by that, resulting in:
7d - 6d = 2(168)
d = 336 km between the villages

336/24 = 14 hrs
336/28 = 12 hrs

distance = speed x time
let x = hours for outward journey
(x+2) = hours for return trip (as stated in problem)
28x =24(x+2)
28x = 24x + 48
28x - 24x = 48
4x = 48
x = 12 hours
12 hours times 28 km/hr = 336 km
ans: distance between villages is 336 kilometers
