Question 387686: a reduced fat cookie contains 3g of fat per serving. In order for food to be termed reduced fat it must have at least 20% less fat than the regular item. What can you conclude about how much fat is in a serving of the regular cookie? I tried to solve it on my own but I simply don't understand the operation functions. I like to thank you before hand, for your help. I it very much appreciated. Thank you. Answer by robertb(5830) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! A reduced fat cookie has 3g of fat per serving. This quantity is already 20% less fat. Let x = fat content of REGULAR cookie per serving. Then x - 0.20x = 0.80x = 3, or x = 3/0.80 = 3.75 grams.
