Question 387563: . Solve. Please show the algebraic inequality you used and show all of your work.
The profit for a company is determined by the equation y = 0.02x – 0.30, where y represents the profit and x represents the number of items sold. How many items must be sold so that the profit will be at least $4000? I DONT EVEN KNOW WHERE TO START..!!!! HELP !! Answer by Earlsdon(6294) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! The profit, y, is to be at least $4000.00 or, algebraically, , but y = 0.02x-0.30, so substitute this into the above inequality to get: Solve for x. Add 0.30 to both sides. Now divide both sides by 0.02
So at least 200,015 items must be sold to earn a profit of at least $4,000.00
