You can put this solution on YOUR website!
One eight ounce glass of apple juice and one eith ounce glass of orange juice contain a total of 185 milligrams of Vitamin C.
Two eight-ounce glasses of apple juice and three eight-ounce glasses of orange juice contain a total of 452 milligrams of vitamin C.
How much vitamin C is in an eight ounce glass of each type of juice?
----
Equations:
a + r = 185
2a+3r = 452
------
Multiply thru the 1st equation by 2 to get:
2a + 2r = 2*185
2a + 3r = 452
-------
Subtract the 1st from the 2nd and solve for "r":
r = 452-2*185
r = 82 ml of vitamin C (amt of vit C in one orange)
----
Since a + r = 185,
a + 82 = 185
a = 103 ml of vitamin C (amt of vit C in one apple)
