Applying the Pythagorean Theorem

  x^2 + x^2 = 12in^2

Solving for x

    2x^2 = 144

     x^2 = 72

      x = ± sqrt(72)  Tossing out negative solution

      x = 8.49in, the length of each side (rounded to the nearest hundredth)
