Sol'n:
3x-15+7 = 16
3x-8 = 16
3x = 16+8
3x = 24, divide 3 on both side
x = 8 ----answer
checking:
3(8-5)+7 = 16
3(3)+7 = 16
9+7 = 16
16 = 16 thus, Q.E.D.
