Question 386539: Hello , I need help with some polynomials. As much as I study and practice I still don't get this. I keep missing some steps. Could you please include the steps so I can see where I am messing up on these.Thank you.
I need to factor each problem.
1) 6x^4y^5z^2 – 18x^4y^6z^4 + 24x^2y^5z^3
2) 16x^2 – 9

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
factor each problem.
1) 6x^4y^5z^2 – 18x^4y^6z^4 + 24x^2y^5z^3
:
Note that we can factor out 6, leaving
6(x^4y^5z^2 – 3x^4y^6z^4 + 4x^2y^5z^3)
:
We can also factor out x^2 leaving:
6x^2(x^2y^5z^2 – 3x^2y^6z^4 + 4y^5z^3)
:
Factor out y^5
6x^2*y^5(x^2*z^2 – 3x^2*y*z^4 + 4z^3)
:
And factor out z^2
6x^2*y^5*z^2(x^2 – 3x^2*y*z^2 + 4z)
:
:
2) 16x^2 – 9
This is the "difference of squares" which factors to:
(4x - 3)(4x + 3); FOIL this and prove it to yourself
