Hi, 

 The difference of two numbers is 4       

Let x and (x-4) represent the larger and smaller number respectively

Write as we Read***

 2(x-4) + 3x = 52

Solving for x

 2x - 8 +3x = 52

    5x =  60

     x = 12, the larger number, smaller is 8

 2*8 + 3*12 = 52
