(a+2b)(x-1)

Your second problem looks strange. Are you sure you meant x^y ??? If that is what you REALLY mean, then here goes. Factor out a common factor of 7 and x:
14x^y - 35xy - 63x
7x%282x%5E%28y-1%29+-+5y+-+9%29+

Somehow, I don't think this is what you really meant, however.
