You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The perimeter of a rectangle is 56 cm. If the length were halved and the width doubled, the perimeter would be 58 cm. How long is the original rectangle?
..
width = w
length = L
perimeter = 56
2(L+W)=56
/2
L+W = 28.....................1
..
new dimensions
length = l/2
width = 2w
Perimeter = 58
..
2(L/2+2w)= 58
/2
L/2+2W= 29
multiply by 2
L+4W=58.....................2
multiply 1 by -1
..
-L-W=-28
..
add it to 2
-L+L-W+4W=-28+58
3W=30
/3
W= 10 cm
..
L+W = 28
L= 18 cm
..
%28highlight%28L=18W=10%29%29
