You can put this solution on YOUR website!
: Find the slope of any perpendicular to the line through points (8,4) and (9,7)
:
Find the slope of the original line using the given coordinates
the slope formula: m = %28%28y2-y1%29%29%2F%28%28x2-x1%29%29
Assign the given values as follows
x1=8, y1=4
x2=9, y2=7
:
m1 = %28%287-4%29%29%2F%28%289-8%29%29 = 3%2F1 or just 3 = the slope of the original line
:
We know the slope relationship of perpendicular lines = m1*m2 = -1
:
We have m1, find m2
3*m2 = -1
m2 = -1%2F3 is the slope of the perpendicular line
