 Answer: 39% markdown
 3. A diamond ring sells for $600.00. This is a 50 markup on the selling price. Find the amount of the markup and the cost.

You can put this solution on YOUR website! I get the answer you got for (1) .90[1.1(.85[31])]
 or, simply
 .90 * 1.1 * .85 * 31
 For (2), I got 38.9%
 (89.99 - 54.99) / 89.99
 For (3), I got Cost = 400, Markup = 200 (50%)
 600 = 1.5x
 x = 600/1.5
 x = 400
 check
 400 + .50(400) = 600
 OK
