Question 38052: IS EACH EQUATION A DIRECT VARIATION? IF IT IS, WHAT IS THE CONSTANT OF VARIATION?
A. Y= 5/8X
B. 3Y=8X
C. X+5Y=10
Answer by fractalier(6550) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Direct variation is always in the form y = kx where k is the constant of variation...so
A. yes, k = 5/8
B. yes, k = 8/3 after you divide both sides by 3
C. no, not exactly, since if we solve for y, we get y = (-1/5)x + 2 and it is the 2 that throws everything off
