Question 380386: solution steps for solving (5a+7)=(6a-7) The parenthesis are not really parenthesis. They stand for absolute value signs which I don't have on the keyboard. So the equation is the absolute value of each quantity on each side of the equation.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Absolute value sign |x| is typed on a keyboard using "shift"+"\"
There are two cases for this problem:
5a + 7 = 6a - 7 --> a = 14
5a + 7 = -(6a - 7) --> 5a + 7 = -6a + 7 --> a = 0
Checking, both solutions satisfy the equation.
