Question 380344: I was randomly throwing problems out to see if my kids could work them out. I stumped myself on this one. 4 cars driving in a relay race. The total distance covered is 450 miles in 4.5 hours. Car A drove for 45 minutes, Car B drove 140 Miles, Car C drove 120 Miles, and Card D drove at 120 mph. Is there enough information to solve this? If so, how do you begin? I started with 450=.75E + 140 + 120 + 120L and 4.5=.75 + I + J + K and combination's with those formulas. Thanks in advance!

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
1st, you didn't say what to solve for.
Then you list 3 types of variables - time, speed and distance.
You have only 2 equations with a possibility of 12 unknowns, time, speed and distance for each of 4 cars.

A solution is not possible.
