Hi,
Using the point-slope formula,
to determine the slope
Pts: (5, -3) and (-2, -8)
m = -8 -(-3) / -2-5 = -5/-7 = 5/7
m = 5/7 is the slope of the line
the standard slope-intercept form for an equation of a line y = mx + b
where m is the slope and b the y-intercept
y = 5/7)x + b using ordered pair Pt(-2,-8) to solve for b
-8 = -10/7 + b
-46/7 = b
y = (5/7)x - 46/7
