Question 379105: Please help me solve this equation: it's on radical expressions (i mean x^2 to mean x squared)
8-7x-x^2
__________ times
x+8

x+5
_____
9x-9

i know that i should set the 8-7x-x^2 in standard form to continue the problem, but when i do that how i was taught i end up with -x^2-7x+8, so i would turn that into -(x+/- ____)(x+/-____) but i can't figure out what multiplies to be 8 and adds or subtracts to be -7. maybe i am doing this problem wrong?
thankyou.

Hi,
Note: In cases like this, always a good idea to translate to -(x^2 + 7x -8)for ex.
-%28x%2B8%29%28x-1%29%2F%28x%2B8%29 * %28x%2B5%29%2F9%28x-1%29
-(x+5)/9
