You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The train left at 9 am with 50 mph.Let t be the time and the distance train travelled in t hours = 50 t
The plane started after 2 hours that is at 11 am
so the distance covered by the plane in t-2 hours is
175(t-2)
To overtake the train the plane has to meet it first
so it means...
50 t = 175(t-2)
50t = 175t-350
175t-50t= 350
125 t = 350
t = 350/125=2.8
so after 2.8 hours the train and the plane are at the same place
That is at 11.48 AM they are at the same place.So after 11.48 AM the plane overtakes the train.

A TRAIN LEFT THE STATION AT 9AM, TRAVELLING AT 50MPH. at 11AM, AN AIRPLANE LEFT THE SAME PLACE IN THE SAME DIRECTION AT 175MPH. AT WHAT TIME DID THE PLANE OVERTAKE THE TRAIN?
--------------
In 2 hours, the train is 100 miles away (50*2)
The plane gains on the train at 125 mph (175 - 50)
100/125 = 0.8 hours = 48 minutes
1100 + 48 --> 1148 AM
