Question 37740: A ladder 12 feet long rests against a wall of a house. the foot of the ladder is on level ground 2 feet from the wall. to the nearest hundreth, what is the measurement of th angle formed between the ladder and the ground ? Answer by fractalier(6550) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! If you make yourself a diagram, you would see that the base and the ladder length are given...this would be the adjacent side and the hypotenuse...the trig function these relate to is the cosine function...
cos(theta) = adjacent/hypotenuse
cos(theta) = 2/12 = .166666...
now take the inverse cosine and get
theta = 80.4 degrees
