In an isosceles triangle, if a segment is drawn from the vertex of the angle between the congruent sides to the midpoint of the opposite, then congruent triangles are formed.

Label your triangle with A at the vertex between the congruent sides and B and C at the other two vertices. Construct the segment from A to the mid-point of BC. Call the midpoint D. AB is congruent to AC because it is an isosceles triangle. Angle B and angle C are congruent because it is an isosceles triangle. BD is congruent to DC because of the definition of midpoint. ABD congruent to ACD by SAS.
