Question 376054: Determine whether the graphs of the two equations are perpendicular?
x+2y=5; 2x+4y=9.
The only thing I can decide on is that they are not parallel because they have different slopes. One is x and the other is 2x.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Graphs are perpendicular if the slope of one is the reciprocal of the other's slope.
Since, we have:
x+2y=5 OR y = (-1/2)x + (5/2)
2x+4y=9 OR y = (-1/2)x + (9/4)
So, they are parallel and NOT perpendicular.
