You can put this solution on YOUR website!
To do this problem you will have to first start out, finding ho far the ship must travel in all. To do this, you will first have to multiply the 22 knots times 10 hours. Doing this you get 220 knots total.
.
.
Then you will have to find out how far the ship traveled in the first 4 hours. to do this part, you will multiply 16*4 and get 64 knots.
.
.
Then you will subract 64 from 220--
220-64=156
.
.
With this you have 6 hours left on the journey to get to the location on time. Thus, you will divide 156 by 6 to get the average speed the ship will need to maintain to stay on schedule
This would be
156/6=23
.
.
Now, the answer is 23 knotts per hour!

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Average for the trip = 22 knots/h
time = 10 hours
distance = 10*22=220 miles.
...
First 4 hours
rate = 16 knots/h
distance = 64 miles.
..
distance to cover in balance 6 hours = 220-64
=156 miles
..
time = 6 hours
..
rate = d/t
rate = 156/6
rate = 26 knots/h
This should be the speed to be on time.
