You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Machine A can complete a task in 24 seconds. Together with machine B, the task can be completed in 18 s. How long would it take machine B working alone to complete the task?
.
Let x = seconds it takes machine B (working alone)
then
18(1/24 + 1/x) = 1
multiplying both sides by 24x:
18(x + 24) = 24x
18x + 432 = 24x
432 = 6x
72 secs = x
