You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Find two numbers whose product is 8, and whose sum is 6.
let the numbers be x & y
..
product = x*y = xy = 8
x=8/y.
...
sum = 6
x+y =6
..
plug value of x in this equation
8/y +y =6
LCD = y
(8+y^2)/y = 6
(8+y^2)= 6y
y^2-6y+8=0
(x-2)(x-4 )=0
x=2 OR 4
the numbers are 2 & 4
..
xy =-30
x+y =-1
x= -30/y
plug in second equation
-30/y + y = -1
(-30+y^2)/y =-1
-30+y^2=-y
y^2+y-30 =0.
Now I think you shpould walk through.It will be a practise.

Let represent one of the numbers and let represent the other. A product is the result of multiplication and a sum is the result of addition.

Then

So

Factor and solve for the two values of .

The other one is solved exactly the same way.
