You can put this solution on YOUR website! jake + jerome = 16,
jerome = 2(jake)+1.
By substituting the bottom equation into the top equation, we get
jake + 2(jake) + 1 = 16, or
3(jake) = 15,
jake = 5, # of touchdowns of jake.
jerome = 2(jake) + 1 = 11, # of touchdowns of jerome.
