You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Hello, There's a couple ways to attack this problem.
2/3x-1/4y=11/-3
1/3x+3/5y=16/15
Let's multiply the second equation by -2 to get:
-2/3x-6/5y=-32/15
Now add this to the first to get (note, we need to change the fractions to same denominator):
-29/20y=-87/15
Let's get rid of the fractions by multiplying by 60:
-87y=-348
Divide both sides by -87 to get:
y=4
Now plug this into either equation and we end up with:
x=-4
Make sense?
