| Question 37256: The number of miles,M,that a car can travel on a gallon of gas depends on the average speed,v,of the car in miles per hour. A travel researcher has compiled the following data for his car.
 v 44 50 53 56 60 70
 M 35.9 37.5 38.0 38.3 38.4 37.1
 a. Find a quadratic model for M in terms of v.
 b. Use your model to predit M when v = 65
Thank you very much for the help.

You can put this solution on YOUR website! The number of miles,M,that a car can travel on a gallon of gas depends on the average speed,v,of the car in miles per hour. A travel researcher has compiled the following data for his car. v 44 50 53 56 60 70
 M 35.9 37.5 38.0 38.3 38.4 37.1
 a. Find a quadratic model for M in terms of v.
 M(v)=-0.011x^2+1.30x-0.019
This from using the TI-83 "Quadratic Regression".

 b. Use your model to predit M when v = 65
 Again using TI-83 get M=38.025
