Problem: Water and bleach are to be mixed in a ration of 50 to 1. How many milliliters of each are needed to make 800ml of the mix?

50 to 1 is the same as 50x to x where 50x is water and x is bleach.
----
Equation:
water + bleach = 800ml
50x + x = 800
51x = 800
x = 800/51
----
Water = 50(800/51) = 784 ml (amt. of water
Bleach = 800/51 = 15.69 ml (amt. of bleach)
