You can put this solution on YOUR website! Sweaters were $5 each, shirts $3, pairs of socks $1. She spent $70 and bought 26 items. She bought 1 more shirt than she did sweaters. Ignoring tax, set up a system of equations and solve the system.
...
Sweaters were $5 each, Let this number be x
She bought 1 more shirt than she did sweaters.
shirts $3, : this will be x+1
Balance pair of socks = 26 - ( sum of shirts & sweaters)
pairs of socks $1.: this will be 26-(x+x+1)
=26-(2x+1)
She spent $70
...
Price equation
....
5x+3(x+1)+1(26-(2x+1)) = 70
5x+3x+3+25-2x=70
6x+28=70
-28 -28
6x=42
/6
x=7... sweaters
Shirts = x+1 = 8
Pair of socks = 26-(2x+1)= 26-(2*7+1)=26-15=11
...
CHECK
11*1+8*3+7*5=11+24+35=70
