You can put this solution on YOUR website! A boat's crew rowed 12 miles downstream, with the current, in 2 hours. The return trip upstream, against the current, covered the same distance, but took 3 hours. Find the crew's rowing rate in still water and the rate of current.
I know that the boat crew rowed 6 miles per hour during current, but I don't know the rate in still water.
------------------
12/2 = 6 mph
12/3 = 4 mph
-----------
The rowing speed is the average, = 5 mph
The current is the difference, = 1 mph
