3k=2k-12-9 Subtract 9 from both sides.


3k-2k=-12-9 Subtract 2k from both sides.


k=-12-9 Combine like terms on the left side.


k=-21 Combine like terms on the right side.

9 + 3k = 2k - 12
add -2k on both sides
9+3k-2k=2k-2k-12
9+k=-12
add -9 to both sides
9-9+k=-12-9
k=-21
