Let the two-digit number appear as xy. Then 6(10x + y) = 10x+y + 175, and x = y-2.

Let x be the 2-digit number. Then we have

6%2Ax=175%2Bx

6x-x=175

5x=175

x=35

You can see that we didn't need the second bit of information about the tens and ones digits.

But you can also see that the tens digit is indeed 2 less than the ones digit!
