Question 369416: find the x and y intercepts and graph the equation plotting the intercepts. Show all work. -3x - 7y = 21 Answer by mananth(16946) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! -3x - 7y = 21
add 3x
-3x+3x-7y=3x+21
-7y=3x+21
/-7
y=(-3/7)x +(2/7)
compare with the equation in the slope intercept form y = mx +b
(2/7) is the y intercept.
co-ordinates are (0,2/7)
..
For x intercept plug y =0
(-3/7)x +(2/7)=0
..
(-3/7)x = -(2/7)
multiply by 7
-3x=-2
/-3
x= -2/3
the co-ordinates are(-2/3,0)
