Question 366412: Please help me solve this equation:
| x 5 2 |
|-6 4 1 | = x^2 + 22x - 1
| 3 1 x |
I've tried:
(solving the 3x3..)
4x^2+15-12-24-x+30x
4x^2+29x-21
(then equaling that to the right part of the original equation...)
4x^2+29x-21=x^2+22x-1
3x^2+7x-20=0
I don't know know where to go from there to solve for x.

Just like any other quadratic. You either factor it or use the quadratic formula. This one factors:
