You can put this solution on YOUR website!
TO fill up their swimming pool, the johnsons decided to use both their high volume hose and their neighbor's regular garden hose. if they had used only their hose, it would have take them 12 hours to fill the pool, but using both hoses it took them only 7 hours. how long would it have taken them to fill the pool using only their neighbor's hose?
..
Own Hose - 12 hours to do the job
so 1/12 of the job it does in 1 hour.
..
together they do the job in 7 hours
so they do 1/7 of the job in 1 hour.
..
1/7 - 1/12 = (12-7)/84
=5/84 of the job is done by the neighbor's hose.
so it takes 84/5
=16.8 hours
