Hi,
Let x represent the smallest of the Five consecutive odd integers
(x+2), (x+4),(x + 6), (x+8 )would then represent the others.
*Note: consecutive odd integers differ by 2
Write as we Read***
x + (x+8) = 3(x+6) -1
solving for x
2x + 8 = 3x + 18 - 1
-9 = x
the Five consecutive odd integers are -9, -7, -5, -3, -1
checking our answer
-9 + -1 = -9 - 1
