Question 364109: Everyone has helped me so much on this site. You all are life savers. I have another word problem
. A school designer wants to create a whiteboard with the optimal dimensions to enhance learning. It is determined that if one side of the whiteboard is x + 5y inches, the other side should be x^2 - 5xy -4y^2 inches. Write an algebraic expression for the area of such a whiteboard, simplify it, and include correct units with your solution. I multiplied and my answer is x^3 - 20y^3 - 29xy^2. Did I do this correctly or am I totally wrong?? Thanks for the help

You can put this solution on YOUR website!

Hi,
A =(x + 5y)in( x^2 - 5xy -4y^2)in = x( x^2 - 5xy -4y^2) + 5y( x^2 - 5xy -4y^2)
Yes! simplifying results in:
x^3 - 20y^3 - 29xy^2
Area will be in in^2
