Question 36408: What is the equation of the line passing through the points
(-3,8) and (-4,-5)
A)y=13x-47
B)y=13x+47
C)y=13x-31
D)y=-13x-31
Please show me all your work so that I can learn how to do this..thanks

You can put this solution on YOUR website! We have 2 points, so let's find the slope. slope=(change in y)/(change in x), so (-5-8)/(-4--3)=-13/-1=13. So, we can write the equation in point-slope form, using either point and the slope 13. I'll use the point (-4,-5). So y+5=13(x+4). Now, we have answer choices in slope-intercept form, so we can rewrite our equation in that for. y+5=13x+52, so y=13x+47. So B is the answer.
