Question 362717: Hi, Thank you for you support!!!!!!
A company that manufactures boxes recently purchased $960 worth of new equipment to offer gift boxes to its customers. The cost of producing a package of gift boxes is $1.20 and it is sold for $2.40. Find the number of packages that must be sold for the company to break even.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let x = # of packages that must be sold. Then the total cost is given by 1.20x + 960, while the revenue coming from its sale is 2.40x. To break-even,
1.20x%2B960+=+2.40x, or
960+=+1.20x, or
x = 800. Thus they have to sell 800 packages.
