f%28x%29=%28x%2B2%29%5E2%2B8
The quadratic is already in vertex form, y=a%28x-h%29%5E2%2Bk
where (h,k) is the vertex.
Comparing,
(h,k)=(-2,8)
The vertex lies on the axis of symmetry, x=-2.
